Seems every day you raise the bar a notch, Paul. smile Top shot. Even higher.
Wonder, if you'd chose a slower shutter speed. Could be a very interesting effect of a crispy sharp tree with a flowing movement of birds. That's just my fantasy. You probably put a lot of work into a processing here.
paul: Interesting idea Vik and I have been having a play with it. This is a composite image and the birds are on a separate layer so I have been trying varying degrees of opacity and adding a touch of motion blur. Haven't got it right yet though sad
I love the birds and tree and the light in the fields is good too.
paul: well I had to arrange for the birds to be in the right place - they started out in another picture altogether!

A quintessential winter scene - wonderful. I'm amazed you got those birds so sharp with a shutter speed of only 1/100s. Is this toned or colour? I think I might even prefer this in straight b/w.
paul: the birds are sharp because they flew in from another picture smile I have about 6 variations of this picture now including a straight b/w, but this was my favourite
This is a fabulous shot Paul. I love the atmosphere with these tones!
paul: I tried a variety of treatments - different tones, B&W and the original rather subdued colours but I liked this one the best
Excellent shot Paul. Well captured.
paul: I was trying to recreate a scene I witnessed one day when I didn't have my camera with me - this is pretty close to what i saw then
Lovely shot Paul, well worthy of any Natural History handbook.
paul: I shall set out to write one to put it in straight away grin - thanks Brian
Quintessentially winter and quintessentially English too - well to me anyway smile Like the presence of very low winter sunlight suggested in the furrows of the ploughed field. Lovely image Paul.
paul: we were rushing back to the car as the light faded, the light was perfect for this sort of scene. I gave the highlights in the furrows a bit of a boost - perhaps a little too much?
This defines a rural English winter for me. The sepia style toning needs to be much much thinner and more subtle for me... but if course retaining the depth oof black and white. Oh heck I hope you can decode the gist of what I'm saying Paul. Ha! richard
paul: This was one of those occasions where I didn't set out to give it a sepia effect but something similar emerged after hours of twiddling smile
does what it says on the tin Paul...does it beautifully...I wish I had taken this!

got to be a likey
paul: I'm honoured Bill smile

muy bonita y bien conseguida, pero yo creo que esos pájaros no van a posarse en ese árbol...........
paul: que no tienen cabida en esta imagen en absoluto!
This is a charming image Paul. I expect you had to crop to get this effect. The light on the furrows is a delight

Very striking photograph Paul, shot of the day by a long way - never thought of adding birds before! I have tried getting Ingrid to run at them and scare them into flight for me, but they just went into the air for a few feet and then settled again and carried on digging for worms ;o)
thats a really fine shot there Paul, well donesmile

Super picture Paul. Can't fault it

But, reading your comments, I wonder if it would be worth editing out all the other trees, it might increase the impact of the birds.
Great image: colors, birds, tree, fields... Great shot!!!

Very very nice shot! Love that it is very low on different colours. Nice timing.
