A bit of Berwick

After more than a year of delays, disappointments, unexpected expenses and a huge amount of stress, we have finally managed to move to our new home - just outside Berwick upon Tweed. I suspect you will see quite a few more pictures of this amazing bridge here in the future, but here is a little taster of Berwick from our walk today.

The Royal Border Bridge connects Tweedmouth and Berwick across the Tweed. Before the bridge was built the line stopped at Tweedmouth making it one of the most important terminuses in England. Today there is no sign of a station in Tweedmouth. The bridge was opened in 1850 and was designed by Robert Stephenson(of Stephenson's Rocket fame).

A wonderful and important structure. I have loved travelling over it over the years
paul: so have I. I never thought then that I would be living just by it!
A magnificent bridge. We went to Berwick many years ago and I will be interested to see pictures of it
paul: No more pics of the bridge just now - too many other new sights to explore. But it is an irresistible subject
Having moved at the end of last year I can sympathise with you Paul, I hope I never have to do it again. A great start to your future photo's.
paul: never again for me too (I hope)
This is a very fine viewpoint Paul.
paul: and there are 2 more fine bridges just behind me
Quite an imposing structure seen this way. I am happy you have a new home.
paul: so are we - thank you Mary
