A walk around the snickelways of York

Looking back down Newgate with the edge of the market on the right. I walked up to catch the picture of the sheep, but the walk takes us back that way to turn down Patrick Pool. It took its name from the result of a blocked Roman sewer or subsided Roman bath we are told. Certainly the Roman baths are just around the corner in the basement of a pub (well worth a visit).

Very good! A blocked sewer doesn't seem a pleasant thing...
paul: well things seem to have improved since Roman times

We're back in tourist land now - love the sheep!
paul: Don't worry Chris, we are about to leave the crowds behind again
