photoblog image and the crowds went wild...

and the crowds went wild...

For the next couple of weeks you are invited to join me on my (now) annual visit to the Burton Agnes Jazz & Blues Festival.

It is much like any other big festival, as you can tell from this first shot from Friday evening. It is such a great event because the age range it caters for is summed up in this picture, and the music has something for all tastes. Despite the title it isn't all jazz and blues (although that covers a pretty wide spectrum of music in itself).

We have been the last 3 years. For the last 2 it has coincided with Caroline's birthday which makes it even more of an event. We have come to know quite a few other regular visitors and you could not have a friendlier environment.  The late night sessions in the beer tent are the best. If they are still alive, I want the Alligators to play my funeral just in case I am not actually dead. They can always get me on my feet and dancing.

Despite the rather restrained look of this photo, we are about to be entertained by the amazing Cherry-Lee Mewis - 'powerhouse blues meets hillbillly boogie' we were promised, and she didn't disappoint...

A promising start to the festivities Paul, he looks ready to boogie!
paul: you'd be surprised Chris. Each time we go we are amazed and inspired by the energy of the people we have come to describe as 'the dancing grannies'. They are on their feet long after I have sat down to rest my aching legs
A great capture Paul, I shall look forward to this.
paul: I'm happy to share a great weekend with you smile
I guess if one liked Jazz and Blues as a youngster then one never loses the enjoyment of it.
paul: The age range enjoying this event was fantastic.
This looks great,Paul,I envy you your visit.
paul: you should come along next year Frank - I wouldnt miss it for anything
I love the title Paul....restrained wildness
paul: some of it was quite unrestrained - but that was mostly in the late-night beer tent
